It’s #Bikeweek2025 and #GortCycletrails would like to invite you to cycle from the Gort Railway Station to Coole Park via Glenbrack aka as the Gort Mini-Greenway and back.
There will be tickets for 40 people only – only people with a ticket will be allowed to take part.
Where to meet : Gort Railway Station – Eircode H91 CY91
Time to meet : 1 PM ; 13h
There will be a safety instruction announcement prior to leaving the Railway Station, please be at the railwaystation no later than 1 pm. We will leave the Railway station at 1:30 PM. escorted by Gort Gardai.
What to expect?
Once we arrive at Coole Park, thanks to the sponsorship by Galway Sports Partnership and Galway Co. Co., you will be treated to coffee/Hot chocolate and a yummy cake at Coolepark Tea Rooms in the Walled Garden.

Once you have picked up your order at the Coole Park Tearooms, make your way to the walled Garden. If the weather is nice we can sit outside on the benches, if the weather is not kind to us, we can sit on the benches in the sheltered area.
We will then make our return journey to Gort back to the Railway Station , via the Gort River Walk, by taking a left as we approach Lidl.
Approximate distance : 9 km ( return)
Bridges to cross : 2 1. Over the Motorway as you exit Gort 2. Gort River Walk Bridge
Level of fitness : Average .. it’s not a race, so we are not cycling fast, and the youngest person will lead the cycle – please make sure your child can cycle hills and knows how to use their breaks
Bike Health : Please check that your bike is in good working order, such as working breaks and tyres in good order and nothing is rattling:)
Children : Under 16’s to be accompanied by an adult/guardian, your child is your responsibility. Please make sure your child can cycle . Experience has taught me that children should be 10 year old as there are a few hills. If you need help to find a buddy for your child, please contact me via Whatsapp 087 6860939
Where/how do we cycle ?
Please note this is a group cycle, we will cycle on the main road, two abreast , for the safety of us all .
Number of hills : a few gentle ones on the way to Coole Park, one bridge, a bit of a climb into Gort, overall fairly level cycle and road surface is also in good shape
What about my bike?
- Front and back Lights would be helfpful
What to wear?
Wear a helmet and high-viz
